ARDMS Vascular Sonography Certification Exam
The Vascular Sonography certification demonstrates a radiologic technologist’s advanced knowledge and competence in performing vascular sonography examinations. This certification is offered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
Exam Content
The ARDMS RVT certification exam covers four main content categories:
a. Physics and Instrumentation
b. Cerebrovascular
c. Venous
d. Peripheral Arterial

Passing Score
The ARDMS RVT exam uses a criterion-referenced scoring system, which means that the passing score is determined based on the knowledge and skills required to perform competently as a vascular sonographer.
Eligibility Criteria
To become eligible for the ARDMS RVT certification exam, candidates must meet specific prerequisites. Prerequisite options include education, clinical experience, or a combination of both. The full list of prerequisites is available on the ARDMS website.

Exam Format
The ARDMS RVT certification exam consists of two parts: the Sonography Principles and Instrumentation (SPI) exam and the RVT specialty exam. The SPI exam has 110 multiple-choice questions, and the RVT specialty exam has 170 multiple-choice
Application process
To apply for the ARDMS RVT certification exam, submit an application form to the ARDMS, along with documentation of your education, clinical experience, or a combination of both. You will also need to pay the required exam fee.
