Nurse Corps Scholarship Program
The Nurse Corps Scholarship Program, administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), is primarily designed for students pursuing nursing degrees, such as Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). While the program primarily targets nursing students, Patient Care Technician (PCT) students may be eligible for some of the program’s benefits if their program is part of a broader nursing degree pathway.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Nurse Corps Scholarship Program, applicants must:
Be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident.
Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited nursing degree program in the United States or its territories, including PCT programs that are part of a broader nursing degree pathway.
Have no federal judgment liens.
Have no existing service commitment.
Not be overdue on any federal debt.
Award Benefits
The Nurse Corps Scholarship Program provides financial support for tuition, fees, and other educational costs, as well as a monthly stipend for living expenses.
Service Commitment
In exchange for the scholarship, recipients agree to work at a healthcare facility with a critical shortage of nurses, known as a Critical Shortage Facility (CSF), upon graduation. The service commitment is a minimum of two years for full-time employment, with the possibility of extending the service for an additional year, based on availability of funds and the recipient’s interest.
