These programs generally take less than one year to complete and provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to work as Patient Care Technicians in healthcare settings. Coursework may cover topics such as basic patient care skills, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, and infection control. Graduates of these programs may be eligible to take the Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT) exam, which is offered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
